A good beach day should not depend on how hard the parking lot and the sand are to navigate. Here is what to know about accessibility at Naples beaches, so you can plan rather than guess.
Parking with a placard
Naples’ standard meter rate is $5 per hour with a $2.50 minimum — but drivers with a valid disability placard or plate park free in any metered space, with no time limit. That removes one of the bigger friction points immediately.
One thing to know: 1st through 4th Avenue North are resident-permit parking only and are not open to visitors, placard or not. Plan around those.
Where to go for full facilities
Most of the numbered-avenue accesses near 5th Avenue South have outdoor showers but no restroom. For a fully equipped accessible option, Lowdermilk Park is the best call in Naples: full restrooms, outdoor showers, and free beach wheelchairs — the balloon-tyre kind that roll over sand where a standard chair sinks.
The Lowdermilk lot fills quickly at weekends, so arrive early. Broad Avenue South and 13th Avenue South are the nearby restroom-equipped alternatives.
Planning around the pier closure
The Naples Pier has been closed since around January 2026 for a rebuild expected to run into mid-to-late 2027, with its restrooms and showers offline for the duration. If accessible facilities matter for your day, Lowdermilk Park is a far more reliable choice than the pier area right now.
Where a cabana setup actually helps
The overlooked accessibility barrier at the beach is not usually the sand or the water — it is carrying chairs, an umbrella and a cooler across both, twice. A private setup means that part is already done: your shade and seating are in place and waiting, so the trip from the car to a comfortable seat is short and carries nothing.
