If you are planning a beach day at Fort Myers Beach this year, you have probably run into conflicting information about what is actually open. Between recovery work and ongoing rebuilding, it is worth knowing before you load the car. Here is what we see on the ground.
Lynn Hall Memorial Park is still rebuilding
Lynn Hall Memorial Park, long the go-to access point at the north end, has been closed since around April 2026 for reconstruction following Hurricane Ian. Portable restrooms are on site for anyone passing through, and the Town currently expects the park to reopen in 2027.
We know that is disappointing if Lynn Hall was your spot. It was the easiest and most central access on the island, with full restrooms and showers and ADA-accessible parking. That infrastructure is not gone — it is being rebuilt — and we will update this post the moment it is back.
Where to set up right now: Beach Access 27
Until Lynn Hall reopens, Beach Access 27 at Mango Street is the reliable option, and it is where we direct most Fort Myers Beach bookings. Before you go:
- $5 per hour plus a small transaction fee, through the Passport Parking app
- A small lot — far fewer spaces than Lynn Hall — including a designated handicap space
- No on-site restroom, so plan a stop beforehand
Because the lot is small, book your setup ahead rather than hoping for a same-day spot, particularly on weekends.
Paying for parking anywhere on the island
Town-operated lots and beach accesses across Fort Myers Beach run about $5 per hour plus a small transaction fee, all through the Passport Parking app — so one app covers the island. Rates change; check the posted signs when you arrive. Drivers with a valid disability placard or plate park free in designated handicap spaces, or up to four hours free at a metered spot if those are taken.
What this means for your beach day
None of this puts Fort Myers Beach off the table. The sand, the water and the sunsets are exactly what they always were. It means the access point matters more right now than it used to — which is the kind of thing we track so you do not have to. We know which lots are open, which fill first, and where to park so you are not spending your first hour hunting.
We are not tied to one or two access points either. If there is reasonable beach access and parking nearby, we can usually set up there — tell us where you want to be when you book.
